This week’s blog topic is “Reunion”. This time of year, most people likely think about family reunions. I know the friends I traveled with over the last couple of weeks are in the process of planning their family reunion for next summer. It’s being held in a beautiful park in Vermont, and they have some fun activities planned.
I became friends with them about 40 years ago when we all attended the same state university here in New York. There’s an old saying that if you have been friends with someone for more than 7 years, they are now your family. We all worked on the college activities committee together. We’ve experienced the joys and sorrows of each other’s families. At a college reunion a few years ago, we decided we needed to make a solid commitment to staying in touch with each other. Truth be told, we are not getting younger!
We have held to that promise. Once the pandemic started, we made weekly Zoom calls with each other. Text messages also keep us in touch. I appreciate that we’ve been able to get together several times this year.
My wish for you this year is that you are experiencing reunions with family and friends. Genealogy encourages us to ask questions of your relatives. Write the stories up. Put names and dates on your physical photos and make notations on your digitally stored ones. This information will be invaluable to future generations. I do believe, in every generation, there is one person who is fascinated with family history and will be the keeper of the information!
You may discover you need assistance in solving a genealogical mystery. Feel free to reach out to me for a free consultation.
Next time our topic will be “Strength”. I wish you a wonderful weekend!
