I’m back from my trip to Vermont and Maryland. I had a lovely time over the last 10 days, visiting with some dear friends, and seeing the sights. It was a good combination of history and relaxation. I visited Fort McHenry and went to an Orioles game. It was my first trip to Camden Yards and won’t be my last! This blog is going to be short as it’s late, but I did not want to miss a week!
The topic for this week is “Flew the Coop”. It makes me think of the relatives that chose to leave a place, versus actual chickens. Some members of my family always like to wander once they immigrated to the US. My Pelz line went first to Canada, then my great-grandfather chose to make the move to Western New York, thinking the weather was warmer. He was disappointed at our weather here but heeded my great-grandmother’s wish to not move again.
The Post family really likes to “fly the coop”. My great-grandfather Post moved to Michigan a few years after my great-grandmother death due to Spanish flu. He married again and spent the rest of his life there. My grandparents divorced around the time I was born. My grandfather made the move to Texas when I was a child. My grandmother and father moved to Florida when I was in college. My dad’s older brother moved to Wyoming, and his younger brother made the move to Florida as well.
So those are a few of my family members that have “flown the coop”. Next week our topic is “Reunion”.
