The topic for week 46 is “This Ancestor Went to Market”. I come from a long line of farmers and farm workers. All my grandparents ended up in the same community where the land is called the mucklands. It is excellent land for growing onions and potatoes. Other crops are hay, corn, and cabbage. My dad was a truck driver, and for many years was a long hauler. His older brother used to drive produce from Western New York to New Jersey.

A large part of where I grew up is dairy farming. There is nothing like the taste of milk sitting in the cold storage tanks before it’s taken to the processing plant. I mean that in the most positive way! I used to work in a small dairy mart store across from the plant. I would see the trucks coming in daily. The place I worked at had the best homemade ice cream.

The topic for week 47 is “This Ancestor Stayed Home”. That’s my plan – stay home and get caught up on writing and publishing my blogs!
