This week’s topic is “Bearded”. This is another one I had to think about a bit. My dad and my mother’s father did not have beards (well, Dad didn’t until I was an adult). I don’t remember my dad’s father very well, and unfortunately, I don’t have any pictures of him. So, this was going to be a very short and boring blog until I decided to look up beard facts. That led me to the site “Untangle Your Face” and bearded 80’s singers (https://untangleyourface.com/bearded-80s-singers/). Why the 80’s? I was in college in the 80’s. Here are the ones they mention:

  1. ZZ Top: Their trademark look were long beards and cowboy hats to complement their combination of blues, hard, and Southern rock. One of my favorite bands.
  2. Kenny Rogers: Incredible country singer and humanitarian.
  3. Kenny Loggins: The 80’s was when he branched out for his solo career, including the song “Footloose”.
  4. George Michael: First with Wham! and then a solo career that started out with the album “Faith” in 1987.
  5. Barry Gibb: Member of the BeeGees with his brothers, Robin and Maurice. Also known as a writer and producer.
  6. Charlie Daniels: Country singer, who started out with bluegrass and rockabilly. I saw him perform in the late 80’s or early 90’s. I’m not big into country music, but it was a great performance.
  7. Prince: Need I say more?
  8. And I’ll wrap up with the hometown performer, Chuck Mangione. Jazz trumpeter, graduate of Rochester’s prestigious Eastman School of Music. His music is a blend of jazz, pop, and R&B.

This is your trivia for Monday! And keep in mind, I’m always here to research your ancestors, bearded or not. Consultations are always free.
